Olga Phekhanova is a graduate of the faculty of Sciences at the Ottawa University with a major in Ophthalmic Medical Technology. After completing her academic training she received an international ophthalmic medical technologist certification from the joint Commission of Allied health professionals in ophthalmology in November 2011.
She started practicing as ophthalmic medical technologist in May 2011 at the Ottawa General Hospital Eye institute where she was directly involved in the patient care by performing clinical assessments and performing various diagnostic tests such as Electroretinography, Corneal topography, Fundus photography, Fluorescein Angiography and many more. Olga was also directly involved in the Clinical research in Cornea and Corneal Surgeries as well as posterior segment.
During her training she volunteered as part of an ophthalmic team for the CNIB Eye Van in Northern Ontario and Nunavut, Canada. She was also directly involved in the hands-on training of medical students during their ophthalmology rotation.
